ZnONanorod based Dye Sensitized Solar Cells with Natural Dyes Extracted from AmaranthusCaudatus and Morus Alba

Abstract


Zinc oxide nanorods were prepared on Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) glass substrates coated with sol gel dip coated ZnO seed layer through chemical method. Natural dyes (Amaranthus Caudatus and Morus Alba) have been used for the fabrication of dye sensitized solar cells (DSSC). The surface morphology was studies using x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy. The optical studies were done by UV visible absorption spectroscopy. The Characterization show that the vertically aligned ZnO nanorods are of hexagonal phase. The solar cell efficiency has been calculated and is found to be 0.60% and 0.48% amaranthus caudatus and morus alba extracts dye sensitized solar cells.
