Characterisation of the Magnetic property of the Cobalt (Transition metal) doped with Zinc Oxide using Spin Coating Technique

Abstract


Doping is widely used to improve the structural and optical properties of semiconductors. However deposition route is also very important to get nanostructure with different properties. ZnO nanostructures were annealed using varying temperatures at 350º C, 450º C and 500ºC. ZnO thin films were successfully deposited on glass substrates by sol-gel method. The effect of different annealing temperatures on the structural and optical properties of ZnO thin films were investigated using X-ray diffraction and UV-Vis spectroscopy, respectively. The c-axis orientation of the ZnO thin films increased as annealing temperatures increased. At 350ºC 450ºC and 500ºC Zinc oxide particles were found and hence the ZnO was  doped with Cobalt at 3% doping concentrations by weight percentage synthesized in the laboratory using Spin coating technique. The magnetic properties were analysed using Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) at room temperatures. The Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) image shows the surface morphology. From the UV-Vis studies the annealing temperature increases when the crystal size decreases and the bandgap values increases accordingly. The B-H Curve was analysed for the ZnO doped with Co at the varying annealig temperature.
