Abstract

An attractive subject of research was initiated because of the interestingproperties & numerous application possibilities of intrinsically conductingpolymer(ICPs).Among the available ICPs, Polyaniline (PANI) is found to be themost promising because of its easy of synthesis, low cost monomer, tunableproperties and better stability compared to other ICPs. The PANI-FA composites

were prepared with different concentration of flyash to aniline ratio (50:50,60:40,70:30,80:20). The composites so prepared were characterized by UV-visspectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, Scanning electronmicroscopy (SEM) and four probe method. It is necessary to shield all electronicequipment against electromagnetic aggression. Electrically insulating nature of FA makes it desirable to regulate conductivity of polymer composite. Theaddition of FA in PANI results in an enhancement of microwave absorption withan added advantage of industrial waste utilization. From the observed result it hasbeen concluded that PANI-FA composites have better EMI shielding properties, reduction of skin path and radiation scattering by FA constituents.
