Structural and Optical Properties of Cerium Doped Zinc Oxide Thin Films using Spray Pyrolysis

Abstract


Cerium doped Zinc oxide(ZnO:Ce) prepared by nebulizer spray pyrolysis technique. The Undoped and Ce doped ZnOthinfilms were deposited on the glass substrates at substrate temperature 400oC with different Ce concentrations varying between  1% to 9%. The preparative parameters such as deposition solution rate, pH, deposition time, carrier gas pressure were optimized. The coating has been characterized by X-ray Difraction(XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM), Photoluminescence spectroscopy(PL) and Ultraviolet-Visible Spectroscopy(UV-VIS). XRD analysis revealed that ZnO with hexagonal wurtzite structure. From luminescence analysis shows that ZnO exhibits the near-band- edge(NBE).
