ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVITY OF PVP CAPPED CdS NANOPARTICLES IN PVA MATRIX

Abstract


Abstract: Results of the studies carried out on the electrical properties of polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) capped Cadmium sulphide (CdS) nanoparticles embedded in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) matrix is reported here. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is used to measure the particle size of (PVP- CdS) PVA and the crystalline nature of the particles is revealed by the lattice fringes seen in the high-resolution transmission electron micrograph (HRTEM). Energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX) study and X – ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) studies indicated the presence of CdS on the surface of the film. Electrical conductivity studies showed that the (PVP-CdS) PVA film exhibits semi-conducting properties with an increase in conductivity with temperature.
