Preparation and Dielectric Characterization of Newly Synthesized Poly (azomethine) Ester Blends

Abstract

Conducting polymers have received considerable attention in recent years due to their attracting practical applications. Among these polymers, a great deal of work was devoted to copolymers and polymer blends with enhanced electrical and thermal behavior. Poly(azomethine ester) is synthesized by direct polycondensation of 4’-hydroxybenzalaniline-4-caboxylic acid using Dichlorophenylphosphine at 140 ºC in Pyridine /Dimethylformamide solvents containing LiCl. This synthesized polymer is blended with HCl doped polyaniline at different mass loading which varies from 10 -30%. From the result, it is observed the dielectric constant decreases with increase in temperature and the temperature dependence of dielectric constant is more pronounced at lower frequencies. The dielectric loss is found to increase with an increase in temperature as the frequency is increased.
